L400 loader

Just picked up a L2250 tractor with L or LA400 Loader. While I am waiting for my books to come, can someone tell me what the 2 L-shaped metal bars are for that are hung on the inside of the left lift arm. I didn't think I was an idiot, but I cannot figure them out.
